My whole life, in every single decade rehashes of dumb market pieties were described as intellectually fresh and energetic, while every generational cohort has been described as re-discovering libertopian anti-governmentality. That is perfectly natural, since the assumptions and aspirations of rugged individualism, spontaneous order, and efficient markets perfectly align with the desires and prejudices of selfish ignoramuses who are insulated as so many Americans happen to be by luck, geography, and history from the worst consequences of their bad decisions and misbehavior.
