Your railing against futurologists is smart, funny, and original. Your commentary on politics isn't dumb, but it's not usually funny or all that original, as far I can see. It's your blog, of course, but here's one vote for more of the former, and less of the latter. :)
I tend to blog most about whatever is annoying me or amusing me or preoccupying my attention at the moment or -- occasionally -- issues I am thinking through in real time. The blog's entertainment and persuasive value for readers is kinda sorta incidental (and from my perspective largely unpredictable). Also, I'm teaching an undergraduate course on technodevelopmental questions right now, and so I guess I'm getting my anti-futurological kicks elsewhere for the time being. Glad to have you here, though.
> No doubt by this weekend I'll be railing against futurologists > more than railing against Republicans again.
Well, Roko Mijic sez (in a delightfully frank comment in an old blog thread that engendered considerable concern among the faithful, at the time; i.e., http://metamagician3000.blogspot.com/2008/04/transhumanism-still-at-crossroads.html )
"I think that we need to make it clear that transhumanism is for rational people ONLY, and criticism of the like found here will hopefully stop."

ReplyDeletejust ignore it.
ReplyDeleteSo we can go back to the transhumanism posts.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt by this weekend I'll be railing against futurologists more than railing against Republicans again.
