Dag, Terryl Clark Has A Hammer in Her Hand

  1. "Terryl" -- now that's an unusual name. Where else have I seen
that lately? Well, what do you know --

    Changesurfer Radio
    "Becoming Gods" (in two parts)
Dr. J. chats with Terryl Givens, professor of Literature and
Religion at the University of Richmond and a scholar of Mormon
theology. They discuss the doctrine of theosis, the Mormon
Transhumanist Association, and the Mormon church's position
    on women, homosexuality, and race.

I haven't Googled Terryl Clark, but -- wanna make a bet?

There's a guy on the Web named Wes Clark (no relation,
presumably), who has an extremely entertaining site called
"Avocado Memories", which documents his childhood in the 70s
growing up in Burbank, California. It was only some
years after discovering his site that I noticed that he too
is a Mormon -- he keeps it pretty low profile. (I can't
imagine he was raised Mormon -- it doesn't seem to fit with
his descriptions of childhood and of his parents -- but
at any rate his wife seems to be Mormon, and they're raising
their kids in the church -- having them serve missions, the
    whole nine yards.)

But here's some amusing stuff from Mr. Clark and his
    wife about Mormon names:

"What's In a (Utah) Name" and
    "The Utah Baby Namer"
(An online help for parents looking for that distinctive
name that says "I'm a Utah Mormon!")

  2. OK, I've Googled. Ms. Clark isn't a "Terryl" after all,
    she's a "Tarryl"

    Maybe that's why she's not a Republican. ;->
