We've known for a long time that simple Manichaean mechanisms of good and evil essences are a false. Why does this notion persist in our culture?<BR/><BR/>There's something deeply and disturbingly dangerous about the True-Knowledge rhetoric of Sens. Lieberman, McCain, and cohorts who <I>know</I> the enemy and <I>know</I> what must be done.<BR/><BR/>True-Knowledge of this sort is, I think, the ultimate enemy of democracy and democratising forces in the world.
