"Big Gay" Yay!

It's bullying to reject bullying, it's bigotry to reject bigotry, it's fascistic intolerance to reject intolerance that fascists also engaged in. Or, you know, not.

After recordings of sermons in which he repeatedly made anti-gay remarks surfaced, Reverend Louie Giglio withdrew from delivering the benediction at Obama's second inaugural. The White House released this statement within twenty-four hours of the recordings coming to light: "Pastor Giglio was asked to deliver the benediction in large part for his leadership in combating human trafficking around the world. As we now work to select someone to deliver the benediction, we will ensure their beliefs reflect this administration’s vision of inclusion and acceptance for all Americans." Greg Sargent compares this to the response four years ago when a similar controversy over the participation of Rick Warren in the first inauguration famously provoked the comment: “We have to agree to disagree without being disagreeable.” Obama has learned a thing or two about the proper treatment of disagreeable Republicans since then, it would seem.

Oh noes! All these minorites asking to be treated with fairness, equality and respect is such a travesty! THE HORROR!

*Really these conservative whack jobs sicken me. We need to have an uprising in this nation. An uprising that combines the diversity and strength of numbers of the civil rights and hippie momvement and throw in a dash of of efficiency, strong leadership and organiztaion, minus the idiocy of the drugged out hippies and we have the workings a fine liberal democratic movment.

OWS is not that momvement. Highly disorganized, no leadership, or hierachy, no clear plans or goals, little scalabilty in terms of societal impact and outreah. Add in the fact that the diversity in the movement is nearly nil, (mostly disgruntled white suburbia) and the "movement" was bound to fail. At least it was a good learning experience of what doesn't work.
