Being Born, Being Bored

It's my birthday. Spending the day in the City scoring writing samples from incoming first years, to determine where they should be located in the composition sequence.

This reminds me of the English comp placement exam they made me take many years ago when I transferred from one university to the other. The essay question was academic cheating, pro or con. Being an advocate of Satan Himself, I wrote the best essay I could come up with on how academic dishonesty advances human knowledge, fosters healthy competitiveness and teaches important life lessons. I placed out of freshcritter comp, so either I did something right or, more plausibly, they grade too easy. I hope you're not grading too easy.
