Something, Not Nothing. Something, Not Nearly Enough

The Administration has published this memo extending some benefits to some citizens. Needless to say, DOMA still prevents providing full and equal benefits to citizens in queer relationships, and the Obama administration continues vigorously to defend DOMA in the courts. The memo is welcome as far as it goes, but since it scarcely goes anywhere at all, that's not saying all that much. Not nothing, but a world away from what is politically possible here, which in turn is another world away from what a truly equitable policy.
