I seem to be literally unable to turn down offers of paid work for teaching, unless there is an explicit scheduling conflict to restrain me. Part of it is the desire to communicate what seem to me to be important things to emerging peers and citizens, but part of it is also this terrible sense I have that this is a job offer that won't ever come again, a chance to make and save some money rather than just reading graphic novels in the tub for a few weeks. It's like being a lecturer has transformed me into a Depression-era grandmother or something.
