The Killer Clowns Skid Onward to the Cliff's Edge

...dragging us all along with them and destroying everything in sight.

According to ThinkProgress the unbearable, execrable “John Bolton… told Tory delegates today that efforts by the UK and the EU to negotiate with Iran had failed and that he saw no alternative to a pre-emptive strike on suspected nuclear facilities in the country.”

They really want to do it. These brainless bullying bloodthirsty maniacs really want to do it.

We don't know the full story to be sure but there are indications that the head of Centcome effectively vetoed sending a third carrier group to the Persian Gulf. He was speaking in code but basicaly he inferred that he threatened to resign over the matter.

It seems that the Pentagon doesn't want a war with Iran. Ultimately that won't stop Bush and Cheney but it appears to give them pause for thought.

We're seeing the same kind of hype up for a war with Iran as we did with Iraq. The Neocons have learned one lesson, don't put forward any evidence because it's embarassing when it gets refuted.

Cheney clearly wants a war with Iran wether or not it happens depends on whose geusswork you subscribe to.

Yes, it is difficult to feel relieved at the prospect that the least democratic most secretive and hierarchical location in our culture would be the one institution on whom we must finally depend to provide a check on the flabbergastingly destructive and self-destructive militarism of the unitary executive, and a corrupt enabling legislature, a partisanized enabling judiciary and a bought and paid for enabling media.

We're seeing the same kind of hype up for a war with Iran as we did with Iraq.

No question about it. I wonder if the powers that be will dismiss even more unprecedentedly enormous public protests around the world as the "sentimental" and "out of touch" and "childish" noise of "an interest group" -- and an "unpatriotic" one at that. Or maybe this time they'll use what they have learned in their other adventures (Iraq, Katrina, etc.) and just send out the mercenary armies and put the protestors in pens.

Yes. If we make it to the other side of this dark time we must put many people in prison for their crimes and make many currently rich people whose fortunes are stolen or dirty into harmless people of at best moderate means. We can be conciliatory and bridge building and moderate and heal the wounds after we ensure this idiotic tyrannical wingnut recidivism (Nixonians, Reaganites, Loyal Bushies) is checked once and for all.
